How do you usually express grief? By crying, angry, shouting, or maybe even staying in a private place alone.
In Indonesia, especially in Papua, one of the tribes called Dani, expresses their sense of loss by cutting their fingers, mostly done by the mothers or the oldest woman in their family. This tradition is called Iki Palek.
According to the Dani’s, it’s the best way they could ever express the sense of loss.
